PERSIST at the 2nd Inter-regional Conference for the Memory of the World (MoW) Programme, 5-8 November 2019

MoW-Gwangju-Nov2019

2nd Inter‐regional Conference for the UNESCO MoW: Preserving & Providing Access to Digital Heritage, 5-8 November, 2019, Gwangju, Republic of Korea.

Lai-Tee Phang, Deputy Director of the National Archives of Singapore and member of the PERSIST project, will give a talk on the Executive Guide on Digital Preservation, the result of a collaboration between the DPC (Digital Preservation Coalition) and the Policy Working Group of the PERSIST project of the UNESCO Memory of the World program.

The Guide provides practitioners in memory and heritage institutions, commercial organizations, government entities and not-for-profit organizations–any organization with digital assets–with information to create awareness and the rationale to prompt action by senior executives, legislators and budget holders as well as decision- and policy-makers to embed and support digital preservation at the core of every organization.

Ingrid Parent is also on the program to talk on the UNESCO-PERSIST Guidelines for the Selection of Digital Heritage for Long-term Preservation, now translated into multiple languages. The Guidelines are an overarching starting point that heritage institutions can use when drafting their own policies on the selection of digital heritage for long-term sustainable preservation.
